In January 1991, our first assignment was to write a Crisis Manual for one of Asia’s main airlines and we never looked back after that.
From humble beginnings working from a home office in Hong Kong and fully expecting to have to hire office space for an expanding team, here we are 30 years later, with a team of 30 experts still working remotely to service our long standing clientele globally.
From the start, CS&A’s mission has always been to enable our clients’ crisis resilience by enhancing their crisis anticipation, prevention, mitigation and recovery capability. Taking a proactive rather than reactive approach, we advocated a comprehensive business contingency model integrating risk management, crisis management and business continuity designed to help our clients be ready before, during and after a crisis.
We have strived to be our best and to provide the best to our clients so they would be able to manage crises on their own, without having to depend on external counsel
By the mid-1990, we were taking on larger projects across Asia-Pacific and honed in our skills working with multinationals in high risk industries such as oil & gas, chemical, aviation, shipping and nuclear.
Still a two-man band, we felt we had reached a key milestone when we won our first large crisis simulation exercise for one of the oil majors in China against a number of international communications agencies.
From there, we began to look for ways to add value to our clients. Recognising the power of technology, we pioneered the first real-time crisis management platform designed to break down communication bottlenecks and allow crisis teams to work securely from anywhere, any time and any place, and Crisiscom© was born.
Some of our clients’ work took us to Europe and by the end of the 1990’s we made a leap to the rest of the world
Over the years, we have had the pleasure to work with our clients in all corners of the world: from the north of Finland across Europe to Portugal in the south western tip, further to the south to Africa, onto the Middle East and India, across Asia to New Zealand in the South Pacific, back up north to Canada, the US and onto South America.
The opportunity to work with multiple teams in multiple geographies and cultures has been the highlight of our adventure
As organisations became more mature in their crisis preparedness journey, we continued to design unique solutions to help our clients be more performing and efficient. We signed a collaboration agreement with The University of Maryland to deliver virtual crisis simulation exercises as early as 2007.
Major world events such as Y2K, 9/11 and the Financial Crisis have made the business sector more aware of the need to be prepared for the unexpected and we began to service clients across various industries, from food and beverage, cosmetics and personal care, to pharmaceuticals, financial, industry associations, transport, etc. in addition to our core high risk clients.
2020 and the Covid-19 pandemic has brought many personal and professional challenges to us all. Harnessing new ways of working to service our clients virtually at the highest standard is what we do and what we will continue to do.
